Another dream

Waking up this morning I had very lucid memories of the dream I had this morning. The night before I was up late with Bowser because he swallowed part of his toy and clearly his stomach was upset. He was making vomit noises so I was repeatedly rushing him outside. Everytime we went out he would just munch on weeds and grass. I later learned this is normal and dogs generally do this to settle thier stomach and induce vomitting. But I was up very late with him and worried last night because I didnt know how to react. I had a couple (2) glasses of white wine that night also.

The dream:

I was at a race track kind of sitting in some kind of floating device that hovered above the track. The racers on the track were dogs owned by people we had met at the dog park. It was literally as if I was playing a video game where Bowser was my car and I had to race him. We were in first place going into the last lap. Out of nowhere Councilwoman Hodes (Celia from Weeds) start to yell and scream and I looked over and Bowser went off course and we lost. I started to scream at Celia and cussed her out. I dont know what the argument was about but I tore her down to the point where she was crying and started to be apologetic. After I was done yelling she began to undress for some reason. I dont remember what the dialogue was but right as that was happening my alarm rang at 7:30 am.

This one makes sense I guess. Here is my best shot at it.

I am very eager to train Bowser to be a good dog. So by racing him it reflected my guidance on him to be the best dog out there. I love video games so the second part is very obvious. The character from the show Weeds also makes sense because my GF just finished watching the second season and I happened to catch a few episodes to brush up my memory. I dont know why she was undressing though. I dont find that character that attractive or anything. Who knows at that point. In summary, this dream reflected my eagerness to train Bowser. Any thoughts?

King Bowser

So, I realized I never made a post about my new dog. Needless to say, his name is King Bowser (bowser) for short. We resuced him from the SPCA Cincinnati. He was the only dog in the kennel that wasnt barking or growling as we walked around. Funny story actually, but we were about to leave because I had to be back to work but as we were leaving we saw this dog just laying in his cage. He was a handsome dog with symetrical brown markings on his shepard face. When I approached the cage he threw his back agaisnt if as if dying to be pet. I knew immediately that we had to take him out and feel him out. When we took him outside he would roll on his back asking to have his belly rubbed. He was very gentle and jumped up on the picnic table outside to be at head level to us. He showered us in kisses and at that moment we knew we would be coming back for this guy.

To be honest, I was very hesitant to get a dog. I knew it was a lot of work as well as a financial burden. I am still in school too which could pose some problems but none of that mattered that day. My parents told me not to get one but agaisnt everyone's opinions I adopted him. Initially I wanted to get a bulldog puppy and name him bowser. I fell in love with them after watching Rob and Big on MTV. After researching I found out it wasnt the right dog for me.

The name bowser was intended for a bulldog and wasnt sure what to name this guy that we got from the kennel( who is estimated to be 1 yr old by the way). After two days of playing with him we knew he needed a name. I decided that the name bowser was what I wanted and it turns out some really strange way that the name given to him is perfectly fitting to his personality.

Anyone familiar with the Super Mario series knows that bowser is a large reptile with spikes on his back. He has sharp fangs that he shows and rolls on his back and charges into things with his body. Well Bowser does all this. His habit of throwing his body weight on you is so cute its hard to not laugh. If you sit down to pet him he will normally just flop his body into you and do some kind of sommersault or spin so that hes leaning against you. When he is on his back and being playful he will show his teeth acting as if hes really tough or something when hes just a big baby. He is suspiciously intelligent and sometimes it worries me. He can be very obedient eager to learn with me one minute and the next he can be a little devil or King Bowser. He is still young and im hoping to turn him into a great companion and hopefully an agility dog.

He is just shy of 45 lbs and is fully grown. I think he is the perfect size to train to do agility courses and maybe even compete some day. I am getting ahead of myself but oh well. Pictures soon to come.

Dreaming

I tend to have very lucid and strange dreams every once in a while. The next day I sometimes write down my dreams on paper and try to understand them. To be honest I wrote down about 1 of them. Last night was extremely interesting, maybe by writting this down in the blog I can gain some insight as to what triggers these dreams, what do my dreams mean, and how do they relate to eachother. Heres the setup:

Last night I went out with my Gf to celebrate our 2 year something month anniversary and we decided to drink. Long story short I had a lot of beer that night. miller lite, blue moon, and newcastle. I ate buffalo wings for dinner but they werent as spicy as I would have liked.

Heres the dream as best as I can remember it now.

So my GF and I came home from a long day with our new dog Bowser. We came home to a house I do not recognize, it was sorta an apartment sorta a house I cant describe it that well. The carpeting though was the kind you would find in a basement that isnt finished, there is no padding or texture just cheap carpeting. I remember going to bed with my GF still awake playing with the dog and was like be quiet please im gonna go to bed. Apparently we had visitors during the night but im not sure who they were. They could have been people I saw at the bars last night or the people I met who my GF works with. Anyways, I wake up and walk out of my bedroom to see the apartment flooded up to my waist. In my dream I had to walk down steps to get out of my bedroom so there would have been no way to tell it was flooding while we were asleep. I come down the stairs to see the bathtub running and water is just everywhere. Bowser is running around splashing all over the place looking at my with a stupid grin like he normally does. Ill give everyone an update on my dog in another post I just wanna finish this dream. So I open the front door and all the water instantly rushes out. I have a conversation with our visitor and then start screaming at my GF. She acts like im insane because I complained about the water. She insisted that it wasnt a big deal. That is where the dream ends for me.

Wtf does this all mean? It makes no sense to me at all. Maybe some of my dreams will start to come together or re-occur. I do know I have reoccuring dreams because ive told people before but I am not sure what it was about.

Efficiency

Today at lunch a bunch of the associates were talking about raises and bonuses for this year end. They mentioned that a woman got a zero raise and bonus last year because she received a poor score on her review. One of the components of the raise that everyone recieves a poor score on is charge hour goals. Every year the employees are supposed to have a certain ratio of chargeable hours to employees compared to thier administrative hours. Even during good seasons people dont meet those goals because they are unrealistic. Well in the summer time after the individual deadline is met in April and all extensions are made, there is really no work to be done in the office. People come in at 9, take a 1.5 hour lunch, and are outta here by 5. During this time lots of people just sit around and gossip or talk on the phone. I totally understand that work must be done to complete a deadline and everything, but why the hell would you hire 2 interns for the summer to get "experience?". We are closing in on our third week today and have done no work outside of busy administrative type stuff. We were told that we would be getting great experience this summer doing compliance work. Its totally apparent that work will not be given to us when even the associates are struggling to stay busy.

Im thankful for this job as I get 18.50 an hour to sit and surf the web all day but come on..... I am wasting the company money, time, and space. What is the point of hiring the iterns. Why do they hire anyone for the summer if they cant even budget out the work or develop some sort of schedule ahead of time in the past years that can outline the work availible to interns in the summer. I have already interned before with a similar experience but at my last job I did get some worthwhile work after some begging.

I think its pretty shitty to grade employees on efficiency when the company as a whole is a fucking joke in that department anyways. Its not our fault we dont have time we can charge, its the partners fault. If we are short on work they should be out there searching for new clients to help the company grow. Im sure they get great huge bonuses every year on top of thier enormous salaries. Yeah, they know they are doing, yeah they are experienced, but I think that alot of the incentive is gone for them at this point because they are the ones running the show. They should take a look at what they are doing to increase revenue for the company instead of punishing the lesser employees. Heck, even partners are taking days off here for no reason or leaving early when they could be doing other stuff. Its just retarded.

Moderating Internet Useage

So at work here we have a web filter. There are claims that it blocks the most popular sites visited and after a while they open back up. I have tested this claim recently and have come to a couple conclusions. It pointless to restrict websites. I spend just as much time if not more searching for sites which are allowed for view. I have also noticed that many of the girls in the office have access to myspace yet it is blocked for me. Not sure how to decipher that one. Too bad they didn't filter out this blog as it will be my direct outlet for entertainment for the rest of this summer.

They must be afraid here that im gonna waste all my time surfing the web while on the clock. DING DING DING!!! I have yet to receive any real work and have spent 12 out of the last 16 hours of work surfing the web. If you are gonna hire interns at least give them something to do besides "training".

Here I am

So I had some free time at work today somehow (laugh). I had never really thought of creating a blog but I read that more and more people are doing it so I thought "why not?". I have always been a good writter and have actually enjoyed writting, especially about stuff that interests me. I dont have a theme for my blogs yet but I think it will mostly be random thoughts that I feel I should share with everyone. I will not use actual names in my blog, so if I make fun of someone or talk about them only those who know the story will get it. Maybe in the future I will change this policy but for now I will keep everything anonymous.
